First Portraits

Today was the first day my parents got to see me on through ultrasound. I was very much also looking forward to this day. Hey! It was the first time. I think before this my parents were playing guessing games on whether I was a boy or girl. I had to keep some suspense :).

I thought I'll play some tricks on them first by crossing my legs. It was fun seeing them trying to make out my head, heartbeat, arms and legs. I think they were a little disappointed. Then I thought I might as well give a peek-a-boo. So I stretched a little arm as a starter. Boy they were so excited to see me move. I think I almost saw tears of joy from mommy. OK... OK... enough teasing so i opened the legs just a little and the ultrasound tech caught the movement and 75% confirmed that I'm a boy. Yeah! Like that was so difficult to tell. I knew that all this while.

The ultrasound tech was taking tonnes of pics of me. I wonder why. Maybe for Homeland Security? I knew mommy went to a lot to get her green card. Probably I already have a existing file :)

It went on smoothly I think. I guess now we just have to wait for the next ultrasound if there is one but I'll keep kicking mommy just to let her know I'm still here. Oh yeah! If mommy and daddy ever get around to scanning the ultrasound pictures maybe you might get lucky and see me also.

I'm officially according to the ultrasound tech 18 weeks and 6 days old. They also decided to name me Vikram Christopher. I like the name very much.

  1. Hello, let me introduce myself. I'm Dennis, I knew your Mom and Dad in Uni. In fact, we used to live in the same unit! I think Vikram Christopher is a very stately name - enough for me vote for you if you were to run for US presidency (oh wait, I can't vote for you because I'm Canadian... I'll just help in the campaign). Can't wait to see you pop out of your mother's belly, I think she's already complained to me about morning sickness.

  2. Hey Dennis, you knew my parents from uni? We've got to sit down and exchange stories. About the morning sickness I can't help it. She eats the most weirdest stuff. Can't wait to meet you either ;)

  3. Hello Vikram Christopher,
I'm your Aunt Connie. I can't wait to meet you in person, but I'll enjoy seeing your pictures, too.
Tell your Mommy and Daddy hello for me.
    Love you!

  4. Hi Vikram,

You do realise that with a name like that, you're destined to be called Vic by people living in the US, and all your American relatives?

Vikram is also supposed to be an ancient Tamil hero, who once fought evil. Kind of like that a Tamil-speaking Batman in his day.

Glad to see you writing blogs already! I foresee a future in journalism.

This is your uncle Vishnu, living in London - who hopes to see you and your parents in London sometime soon!

    hugs,
    Vishnu

  5. Well hello Vikram! This is your Auntie Krystalyn! I also met your parents in Uni and lived with them for a while. They are two of my favorite people and the news of your coming is cause for celebration indeed. With a name like that I think you are bound to be a heartbreaker and with your parentage i think i have to expand that to an international heartbreaker! Can't wait to meet you.
