The New Mommy

Mommy did something I thought Mommy will never do. She cut all the hair she had. I never saw it coming. Mommy was talking a lot about it but Mommy always talk. I guess I'm just too small for anyone to discuss anything important. I heard Daddy talking about the different hairstyles. I thought it was for me. Mommy was talking about me already loosing hair at this age. I can't help it Mommy. I think I better do more research to find out why I'm loosing it.

Anyway, back to the story. I'm sure everyone is eager to see pictures instead me talking away. I think Mommy looks pretty good. Youthful looks? I heard Daddy saying that. Sadly now I don't have any hair to pull when Mommy carries me. Yesterday I overheard Mommy saying that Mommy cut her hair because I was getting my fingers tangled in it. Sorry Mommy! I didn't mean to do that. I'm still busy learning to coordinate my motor skills. It's a tough job. I hope Mommy grows back her hair.

Mommy and the hairdresser (Lenieka) before it all started.

Mommy with her side pose. Just to show off her super long hair which hasn't been cut for a long long time.

The braided hair moments before all that hair disappears.

That's the look I had on me when I saw Leneika cutting Mommy's hair.

The new Mommy. Awww.. Mommy you look good :)

Renaissance Festival

Leave it to my parents to take me to the weirdest events around Kansas City. Last weekend, we went to the Renaissance Festival. What does Renaissance mean? I asked Mommy the same thing because all I saw was food, drinks and loads of funnily dressed people speaking the Queen's English. Mommy said Renaissance was a cultural rebirth that occurred around the 14th to 17th century in Europe (For a better understanding click on that link).

I listened to some really good Scottish music. The drum beat was good. Mommy wanted to buy the CDs but they were a little too expensive for her. Mommy is a little cheap these days. Mommy I still want those toys you promised me other day for writing nice stuff about you. Daddy did some bungee jumping. That was so much fun. I can't wait to grow up to be a big boy to do that.

Men wearing skirts. This phenomenon apparently happens in Scotland. Phew! I wasn't born there.

The extended happy family with Uncle Marty and Aunt Becky. Mommy and Daddy were busy somewhere else. I'll explain in a bit.

This is what Daddy was doing and Mommy was busy taking pictures as usual.

Black & White (Part 2)

Just to clear the confusion. A lot of people having been asking Mommy is the black & white pictures were digital or retouched. No... No... Mommy has been working really hard. I swear. I rarely see her these days. Mommy took an entire roll of black & white film. Mommy learnt the trade of developing film the old fashion way. You know??? (I didn't know until Mommy explained it).

Mommy is in the darkroom where she fumbles in the dark (ha.. ha.. I thought that was funny) and loads the film into a canister to be processed. Mommy then gets to play with some chemicals to wash the film so it can developed. Mommy can't remember the names of the chemicals.

Mommy again then walk into another darkroom to do the printing. Again it's all guess work. Mommy can't really see anything in the dark. Mommy does the enlargement on a special photographic paper and washes it with more chemicals. This is the time when the magic happens. The picture appears out of nowhere. Mommy said it's really cool to watch the pictures develop. In the dark?? Come one, Mommy you're kidding right?

I hope this answers all the doubts people had about my Mommy's talent and creativity (Mommy promised me a new toy if I wrote nice things about her again).

Black & White

Mommy's Post

I'll let the pictures talk for themselves. I took them as an assignment for my photography class. I have more coming in the future.

Vic or V.C.?

I've decided I might want to pursue a career in modelling. Blame Mommy! Mommy's the one who got me into this. So, should I go by the name Vic or V.C.? I need a super sophisticated name so I can sound glamorous. I'm testing the waters right now to see if it will help me save money to buy me more toys when I need them. Excuse the background. Mommy is still learning the techniques of taking artistic pictures.

Shot 1 : No smiling. I was trying for the sexy straight look.

Shot 2 : A little on the angry look like I'm mad at the world or something like that.

Shot 3 : The sexy laughing smile at the right moment.

Shot 4 : The half smile half serious look.

The girlfriend

Pictures of my new-found-girlfriend. Her name is Dyani. She's a a year older than me. I been told that age is just a number. Dyani is my babysitter's daughter. We have the Malaysian connection thing going on. I teach her to squeak and do stuff. Dyani does the same. She helps me hold my bottle and makes sure her Mommy takes care of me well. I'm always surrounded by pretty women.

The whole relationship thing didn't start out well. We were already having our first argument over something which I can't remember (it's called selective memory).

Mommy made us pose. I don't think the both of us were very happy about. We were still not in talking terms.

Then we decided it wasn't worth arguing over silly things and made up. Dyani made a really good joke but I wasn't going to laugh in front of the camera and give Mommy the opportunity to catch me smiling.

Daddy's Birthday

Happy Birthday Daddy! I know I'm a little late in announcing on the blog. I've just been so busy lately with my new-found-girlfriend. I'll explain in detail another time. This post is dedicated to the hardworking Daddy. Daddy bathes me, feeds me and changes me when Mommy is feeling lazy. Sometimes we even play together. Mommy took Daddy to a lot of nice restaurants to eat during Daddy birthday weekend. I'm not complaining this time. Mommy had a lot of good food. Yummy!

Mommy being the almost there bargain hunter bought clothes for me which I can only wear next summer. Mommy!!!! I want clothes which I can wear now! Daddy explained that the summer clothing were on sale because winter is approaching so buy cheap now and use later. Daddy thought I wasn't a trendsetter so it's ok to buy out-of-season clothing. They were really cheap plus I think Mommy isn't done shopping for me yet! Mommy has good taste in dressing me up. I'm glad Mommy does (Ok, Mommy can I have that $50 you promised me if I talked nice about you in my blog?).

Daddy calls me Ewok. It's some character from some old-age movie which Mommy and Daddy used to watch as little kids. Winter clothing is heavy. You have to wear so many layers I think. Winter hasn't really started. Fall/Autumn will starting in a few weeks. Mommy is already starting to dress me up in layers. It's really cold in the mornings when we leave the house.

Daddy hard at work taking really good care of me. I wonder where Mommy disappeared too? This picture was taken at the Malaysian Merdeka (Independence) Day celebrations. I guess Mommy was too busy eating all the good food. Mommy!!!!!! I can't really blame Mommy I guess. Mommy rarely gets to eat Malaysian food.

Shoddy and Tainted Products

Mommy's Post

Lately there are been a lot talk about the shoddy products especially toys coming from China. It worries me a lot there are so many of these products which are cheaply produced and sold all over the world. At first it was one product and the list just kept growing.

Buying anything for Vikram these days has been on high priority list. I check labels to see where it is made and what is contains. It's scary enough that these shoddy products are readily available anywhere. Reading articles about it on the Internet and newspaper doesn't help me worry less. It just stresses me out not knowing what Vikram could be exposed to. Should I be taking away all his toys just because I'm afraid?

This is one the news (Click on it! I'm sure it's worth reading) and another news (almost similar stories but this one is in the US) which made me even more worried than before. As a new parents I guess sometimes I worry too much. Every aspect is scrutinized and over-analyzed.

Christmas is approaching and I'm sure Vikram will be receiving a lot of toys as gifts. I really hope everyone will read the labels and make sure it's safe for any kid to play with. My heart goes out to every parent who has to deal this inconvenience for now. I can't bear the thought of telling any kid not to play with his/her favorite toy just because someone decided to be cheap and use illegal chemicals to cut cost and make more profit.

Mommy & Vikram

I've decided to share my blog with Mommy due to a lot requests from people I don't really know (Hint to Nunu's Mommy). From time to time Mommy will post some serious issues concerning Vikram and Daddy. Sometimes Mommy might actually write something worthwhile. I'll stop bashing Mommy now. For a while Mommy was contemplating getting her own blog but I don't think Mommy has time to manage two blogs. So being the "hero" of the family I told Mommy I'll share my blog. Don't worry I'll be screening Mommy's post from time to time to make sure it's not getting out of hand and everyone can read it.

Anybody has any ideas? I'm thinking we should vote for Mommy to write more about the photography class Mommy is taking this semester. I don't know of anything exciting going on in her life. (Poor Mommy!).

Labor Day

Grandma-G babysat me this Saturday. I was on my best behavior. Daddy told me that Grandma-G used to be a school teacher so I was to be in my best behavior. Don't tell Daddy but Grandma-G and I had so much fun together. Since Grandma-G was here, Mommy and Daddy decided to go out for dinner. We went for a Japanese style Hibachi dinner. That was the best dinner show I've ever been too. Food was flying everywhere. We even had a onion volcanic eruption. I enjoyed watching the chef make the food. I didn't get to eat any. Maybe next time. Mommy didn't get any pictures as Mommy was too busy eating.

Mommy and Daddy took me to the Labor Day Parade on Monday. It was held at the Liberty Memorial. It was my first parade. Mommy woke me up really early to get ready for the parade. Sometimes I wonder if Mommy ever gets any sleep. I know I keep her busy during the night. Mommy is the most comfortable sleeping pillow invented. Anyway, back to the parade.

The was a lot huge trucks. They were so cool but I didn't like the loud horns they had. I was scared of them.

Some pretty cool looking old cars. They look like fun toys.

Another old car. Someday someone will explain the history behind each car.

Leave it to Mommy to dress me up for the occasion. Ok, maybe I do look cute sometimes. I give her credit. Did I tell you I love eating my hands all the time? I think fingers are the best thing invented so far. They taste different all the time.

The army chopper was there. I got to go in and check it out. Pretty cool stuff.

Union Station in Kansas City. That's where you take the train to go anywhere in the US. Daddy said maybe another day Daddy will take me to the Science City when I'm a little older.

Liberty Memorial. We didn't go up. It was too hot so we just walked around the park.

Next week is Daddy's birthday. Mommy up to something. Mommy doesn't share stuff with me anymore. Everytime Mommy says something I write on the blog so Mommy has stopped sharing news with me. I've got to convince Mommy otherwise.

I've also learnt to squeak. Daddy finds it some amusing. Mommy squints her eyes. I don't understand. I kind of like this squeaking. It gets a lot of attention from everyone.

Mommy has been busy taking a lot black & white pictures of me and Daddy. I can't wait for Mommy to develop them herself. I hope Mommy doesn't ruin it while Mommy is busy experimenting at the labs. I can't wait to put them on the blog.
